Self care is essential

Can Reiki energy healing help?

Yes!

Reiki can help. Reiki can help with physical issues. It can help with emotional issues.  It can also help heal trauma. In my opinion, there is nothing that Reiki can not help with. It is positive universal energy.

What exactly is Reiki?

Reiki is a type of energy healing. The word Reiki comes from the Japanese words “rei,” meaning universal, and “ki,” meaning life energy. Energy work aims to help the flow of energy and remove blocks in a similar way to acupuncture or acupressure. Reiki improves the flow of energy in and around the body. It can enable relaxation, relieve pain, speed healing, and reduce other symptoms of illness.

Is Reiki new?

Reiki is not a new energy healing practice. It has been practiced for 2,500 years or more. Usui Reiki was developed in 1922 in Japan by Mikao Usui. In recent years, it has gained in popularity and is now practiced all over the world.

Who can receive Reiki?

Everyone can receive Reiki. There are no physical contraindications, but there are a few instances when Reiki should not be used. These include: when a person is operating machinery, has broken bones that have yet to be set, and when a person is intoxicated.

How to prepare for Reiki?

Come with an open mind. For Reiki to be effective, you need to be open to receiving Reiki. I find it helpful to set my intentions before my session starts. By this, I mean knowing what I would like Reiki to address. It’s okay if you don’t know what you would like from the service. Reiki will work on the greatest need you have, even if you aren’t clear on what that actually is.

Before your Reiki session, you will be asked to fill out an intake form. This form covers basic information about you, your health history, comfort accommodations, as well as what you would like to get out of the service. The more detailed information you provide, the better the choices will be made regarding the treatment.

The treatment takes place in a private room on a comfortable massage table. The lights are lowered, and calming relaxation music is played. You will remain fully clothed, but shoes, glasses, bulky jewelry, and smartwatches are removed. A blanket will be provided if needed.

After the session

Even though Reiki is a subtle, noninvasive technique, that doesn’t mean it’s not powerful! These sessions can be incredibly profound and can create shifts physically, emotionally, and spiritually. The healing continues on long after the session has ended.

Immediately following your Reiki session, I will share my impressions with you. If you feel led to do so, I encourage you to share your with me also. There is no right or wrong. Do what feels good to you.

Take time to reflect and process what you felt during the session.

As with other forms of self-care, I recommend drinking plenty of water, resting, consuming healthy foods, and surrounding yourself with positivity.
