You have a couple of options to get started. You can either book a complimentary phone consultation or go ahead and schedule a full-body Red Light Therapy session right from the start. Either way, you’ll be asked to complete a quick online intake form beforehand. This gives us a better understanding of why you’re interested in RLT—whether it’s for pain relief, skin health, energy support, or any of the other amazing benefits this therapy can offer.
If you choose a consultation first, we’ll chat by phone and review your answers together. Then, if we both feel like it’s a good fit, we’ll get your first session on the books!
Before You Arrive
If you haven’t already completed your intake form, no problem! Just plan to arrive about 5 minutes early to give yourself time to fill it out here at the studio.
Here are a few tips to help you get the most out of your session:
- Wear easy-to-remove clothing, since you’ll undress completely (or down to your comfort level). The more skin you can expose to the light, the better the results!
- Skip any sunscreen or heavy lotions on the day of your appointment. These can block the light and reduce its effectiveness.
- Continue following your doctor’s advice when it comes to things like icing, rest, and medications you’re already using for inflammation or pain relief.
When You Arrive at the Studio
Once you’re here, we’ll greet you and make sure all your paperwork is complete. Then we’ll walk you back to our cozy Red Light Therapy room, where I’ll give you a quick rundown of how everything works.
You’ll have complete privacy during your session. We’ll step out of the room so you can undress and get comfortable on the stationary light bed. We recommend undressing completely to maximize your skin’s exposure, but you’re always in control—whatever feels right for you is perfectly fine.
During Your Red Light Therapy Session
Our Red Light Therapy system is a bit different from others you may have seen. We have a stationary bed with an adjustable canopy, so you’ll get full-body exposure without having to flip over during your session. The open design also means you won’t feel trapped or claustrophobic—it’s spacious, quiet, and kind of meditative!
You’ll lie back, relax, and enjoy the soothing experience. There’s a sound machine in the room for ambient noise, but if you prefer to listen to your favorite music, podcast, or guided meditation, feel free to bring your phone or iPod and pop in some earbuds.
Sessions typically last about 10 minutes, but that time may be adjusted depending on your individual needs and goals. The Near Infrared Light (NIR) we use does produce a little heat, but we’ve got a fan in the room to keep things comfortable for you. If you prefer, we also offer eye protection in the form of glasses or goggles—though Red Light Therapy is actually being studied for its potential benefits to eye health!
After Your Session
Once your session wraps up, we’ll offer you a bottle of water to help you rehydrate. While the experience itself is deeply relaxing, Red Light Therapy is energizing your cells behind the scenes, and staying hydrated helps them function at their best.
Everyone responds differently to Red Light Therapy, so you might notice:
